Thomas L. Ely, 60, Glenwood

Thomas Lee Ely, age 60, of Glenwood, formerly of Melbourne, died Feb. 27, 2009, in Council Bluffs. Graveside services will be held today, (Wednesday) at 1 p.m., at Haines Cemetery with Rev. Terra Amundson officiating.

He was born Oct. 12, 1948, in Melbourne, to Laurel Jackson and Mary Katheryn (Brozovich) Ely. He had been residing in Glenwood for the past nine years until his recent move to Council Bluffs. He was always a happy person and could entertain himself with a book or newspaper for hours. In his younger years, he earned many medals in the Special Olympics. He enjoyed bowling and any activity that the home provided for him to do. He enjoyed dancing and eating as well. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceding Mr. Ely in death were his parents; and six brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sisters, Lucinda “Sue” Shook of Omaha; Nancy Stevens of Colorado; Florine Good of Iowa; and brother, Laurel “Bud” Ely of Ames; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A memorial fund has been established. Peterson Mortuary of Glenwood is in charge of arrangements.
