Glenwood Girls Top Denison In Regular Season Finale

Glenwood wrapped up its regular season Friday night with a 60-34 triumph over Denision.
Maggie McChesney scored 16 points, pulled down 13 rebounds collected seven steals to lead the charge for Glenwood. Maggie Smith and Malynn Johnson also scored in double figures, tallying 14 and 12 points respectively. Megan Hughes recorded three steals and a pair of blocked shots for the Rams, who improved their record to 5-16.
The Rams shot 31% from the field and sank 24-of-33 free throw attempts to pull away for the win.
The Monarchs were led by Mayah Slater, who tallied 13 points and 12 rebounds. Denison’s record slipped to 3-19 with the loss.
Glenwood and Denision will face off again in the opening round of Class 4A regional play tonight (Wednesday) in Glenwood. The winner will take on Lewis Central Saturday night in Council Bluffs.

Council Bluffs Lewis Central opened up a double-digit lead in the first half en route to 56-33 Hawkeye 10 Conference girls basketball victory over Glenwood last Monday, Feb. 11.
The Titans went on a 14-3 run in the final minutes of the first half to take a 30-18 lead to the locker room at halftime and never looked back.
The Titans continued to add to their lead in the second half, fueled by the scoring of Brooke Larsen and Macie Vetter, who finished the night with 22 and 20 points respectively.
The Titans improved to 10-10 with the victory.
Malynn Johnson paced Glenwood with 12 points.
