Zachary Aaron Basye, 46, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at his home in Glenwood, Iowa.

Zach was born June 10, 1980, in Omaha, Nebraska, to John William Basye and Sandra (Faverty) Basye. He grew up in Glenwood and attended Peru State College, graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, majoring in History. Throughout his life, Zach was a consummate athlete, competing in basketball, baseball, cross country, and golf.

Zach is survived by his mother, Sandra of Glenwood; his sister, Jonatha (John Utsinger) of West Des Moines; and his daughter, Taya Jae (her mother, Tera Bauer) of Elkhorn, Nebraska. Also surviving are his uncles, Jerry of Concordia, Missouri, and Jack (Jeanne) of Scottsdale, Arizona, and aunt, Sharene Shipley (Rick Gissel) of Reno, Nevada, along with many cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John; paternal grandparents, Rev. E. E. Preach and Mary Basye; and maternal grandparents, Dale and Peggy Faverty.

Zach’s greatest joys in life were his daughter, Taya Jae, golf, and useless trivia facts. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, and did it with a smile on his face. Think of him when you hear a great song or start reciting lines from your favorite movie. Zach will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
