Unoccupied Building Expected To Open As Convenience Store
This vacant convenience store is expected to open under new ownership and a new name in late October or November.
A vacant convenience store building at a prominent Glenwood intersection could soon be opening under a new name.
Owners of Omaha-based In-N-Out Stop, LLC, say they plan to open a store in the former Kum & Go / White Oak Station property on the northeast corner of the Sharp St. - Locust St. intersection. Owner Albert Alfarra told the Glenwood City Council last week the opening is contingent upon state approval of a liquor license and inspection and approval of the gas pumps from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The city council approved the store’s retail cigarette / tobacco / nicotine / vapor permit at its regular meeting last Tuesday.
Alfarra said his company currently owns the Speedy Gas N Shop convenience store in Council Bluffs and previously operated stores in Omaha and Bellevue, Neb. He said he’s looking forward to opening a store in Glenwood, a community he has friends in and has visited often.
“I like Glenwood,” he said. “There’s something special about small towns.”
Alfarra said plans are to have the store open daily from 6 a.m. – 11 p.m.
