As of Tuesday morning, Nov. 2, about 300 booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered at clinics being hosted at Kaufman Hall by Mills County Public Health.

“We’re averaging about 80 people (each day),” MCPH Administrator Julie Lynes said. “We don’t have near as many scheduled so we’re having a pretty good number of walk-ins, which is great to see.”

A booster clinic is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 10, from noon to 3 p.m. and walk-ins are welcome.

MCPH has also scheduled special booster clinics for school district personnel. A clinic will be held Friday,  Nov. 5, at East Mills School and Nov. 19 at Kaufman Hall for Glenwood Community School District personnel.

“Vaccine supply is good and readily available in Mills County,” Lynes said. “Local pharmacies and doctor’s offices are additional locations to get the boost shot.”

Booster doses of Moderna and Johnson & Johnson as well as the Pfizer vaccines have now all been approved by the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Iowa Department of Public Health.
