The Community Cares Award was presented to Denise Chambers of Glen Haven Village.

Cindy Bowley from Malvern Bank received the chamber's Customer Service Of The Year Award.

The Mills County Chamber of Commerce presented the City of Pacific Junction its Resiliency Award for the response by civic and community leaders to the historic flooding that devastated Pacific Junction in 2019. The award was accepted by Terry Parham, Diana Irick and Pacific Junction City Clerk Korrena Neppl.

Glenwood Fraternal Order Of Eagles Arie 3784 was recognized by the Mills County Chamber of Commerce as the Club / Organization Of The Year for its support of community projects and causes. Accepting the award on the club’s behalf were Jess Cook, Stephen Bomer, Kelly Cook, Christy Hockabout, Reg Hockabout and Diana Irick.

Nicki Poort (right) received the Mills County Chamber Of Commerce’s Past President’s Award at Thursday night’s program. Her award was presented by fellow chamber board member Diana Hoogestraat.

Glenwood banker and community advocate Larry Winum was recognized as the Mills County Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year at the organization’s annual Betterment and Beautification Awards dinner Thursday night at the Fountains Ballroom.

Winum was among several award recipients honored during the program, along with Community Connection Award winner Vicky Bird, longtime coordinator of the Mills County Love Tree; and Junior Citizen of the Year Cooper Marvel.  The Educators of the Year  Award recipients were Kevin Schafer from the East Mills Community School District and Courtney Long from the Glenwood Community School District. The Glenwood Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie 3784 was honored as the Club / Organization of the Year while Cindy Bowley of Malvern Bank received the Customer Service of the Year award.

Other award recipients included Denise Chambers of Glen Haven Village (Community Cares Award) and the City of Pacific Junction (Resiliency Award). Chamber Past President Nicki Poort was also recognized, along with Emily McQueen for several pieces of Mills County artwork she created in conjunction with the organization’s name change from the Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce to the Mills County Chamber of Commerce.

Customer Service Of The Year: Barrett Auto Center, Cindy Bowley - Malvern Bank, Denise Chambers - Glen Haven Village, El Porton Mexican Grill, Adrian and Julie Kalambokidis - Adriano’s Brick Oven,  Jacey Kalambokidis - Parea Cocktail Lounge, Kenkel Family Chiropractic, Monica Nikseresht - Medicap Pharmacy, Gene Schoening - No Frills Supermarket, Chris Smith - Barrett Auto Center, Anne Steele - Jim Hughes Real Estate, Bob Wolbach - Harvest Moon Coffee & Specialty, Jennifer Zeitler - Mills County YMCA.
