It's Homecoming Week In Glenwood
Expect to see some animals in Glenwood this weekend.
“A Day At The Zoo” is the theme of the Glenwood Community School District’s Homecoming celebration, which is taking place in October for the first time in several years.
In addition to several class reunions, highlights of the event include Friday afternoon’s Homecoming Parade on Town Square, the Rams’ football game against Winterset (and postgame firework show) Friday night and Saturday night’s Homecoming Coronation in the high school gymnasium.
The following school and community-related Homecoming activities will be taking place over the next four days:
Wednesday
* Student street painting in front of the Glenwood Activities Complex from 6 - 7:30 p.m.
Thursday
* Chamber coffee hosted by the Glenwood Booster Club at the Glenwood Activities Complex at 9:30 a.m.
Friday
* Glenwood Fire and Rescue Pancake Feed from 6:30-9 a.m.
* Pep Rally at high school at 10:05 a.m.
* Booster Club Lunch at Glenwood Activities Complex from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
* Parade at 1:30 p.m.
* Jim Hughes Real Estate Free Family Fun immediately after the parade until 5 p.m.
* Football game against Winterset at 7 p.m. with Night Vision Fireworks to follow.
Saturday
* Coronation at 7 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Homecoming dance will take place after coronation until 10:30 p.m.
* Homecoming Street Dance on Town Square at 7 p.m., hosted by the Glenwood Alumni Association. Music by Wrecked Becky begins at 8 p.m.
* Glenwood Fire and Rescue overnight breakfast meal served from 10 p.m. - 3 a.m.
