Agency Nurse Faces Charges For Drugs Given To Resident at Glen Haven Village
A Kansas woman working as an agency nurse is facing charges connected to her treatment of a resident at Glen Haven Village skilled nursing facility.
Rochelle Rose Reyes of Wathena, Kan., 37 was arrested late last month and is charged with administering harmful substances, a Class D felony, and wanton neglect of a health care facility resident, an aggravated misdemeanor.
According to two complaints from the Glenwood Police Department filed in Mills County District Court, Reyes knowingly acted in a manner likely to be injurious to the physical or mental welfare of a Glen Haven Village resident.
The complaint states that on the night of June 28, Reyes gave a resident Xanax, a schedule 4 drug that was prescribed and belonged to another resident. A second complaint states that Reyes also directed a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at the facility to administer the same drug to the resident that was prescribed and belonged to another resident.
Glenwood Police Chief Eric Johansen said his department was notified of the incident by Glen Haven Village personnel and a family member of a resident.
Reyes was released from the Mills County Jail on bond. She has a hearing set for Sept. 18 in Mills County District Court.
Glen Haven Village officials had not been reached for comment on the matter at the time of publication Tuesday.
