More Sharing For Fremont-Mills, Sidney?

TABOR - Representatives from the Sidney and Fremont-Mills boards of education are scheduled to meet in Tabor tonight (Wednesday, Feb. 23) to discuss opportunities to expand the sharing of resources between the two school districts. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Fremont-Mills School Media Center. The two districts, both members of the Corner Conference, currently share resources and expenses in several areas, including transportation, maintenance and business services. Fremont-Mills and Sidney also share a science instructor, and cross country and wrestling programs in athletics. The cross country and athletic teams compete as the Southwest Iowa Warriors and also include some student-athletes from other districts in the southwest corner of the state. School administrators from Fremont-Mills and Sidney have been reviewing certification of their staff for other possible areas where programs or curriculum could be shared. Instructional tech and vocational agriculture have been mentioned as two possibilities along with middle school and high school art and advanced-level sciences. Tonight’s meeting is open to the general public.
