Dorothy M. Alberts, 93
Dorothy Marie Alberts, age 93, of Glenwood, formerly of Malvern, died on Jan. 23, 2009, at Glen Haven Home in Glenwood. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home in Malvern. Officiating was Pastor Gordon Scott. Interment was in the Malvern Cemetery.
One of 10 children of Dora (Clayton) and Robert Elonzo Cogley, she was born at her parent’s home west of Glenwood, on June 13, 1915. She grew up in Glenwood and graduated from the Glenwood Community High School in 1935. Following school, she worked with her family at the Cogley Ice House and on the farm.
She married Lawrence Ranne “Bill” Alberts of Malvern on March 5, 1944, at the Methodist Church parsonage in Glenwood. They made their home on the Alberts’ family farm along with her mother-in-law, Ida, and sisters-law, Marjorie and Ferne. In May of 2004, Mrs. Alberts and her husband moved from the farm to the Linnwood Estates Assisted Living Center in Glenwood. They had been married 61 years when he died on Dec. 25, 2005. She continued to live at Linnwood until moving to the Glen Haven Home in 2007.
Mrs. Alberts was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Walter Cogley; Ernest Cogley; Glen Cogley; Wesley Cogley; John Cogley; Roy Cogley; Jess Cogley; Frank Cogley; sister Ruth Cogley; nephew Dwayne Cogley and great-nephew Douglas Cogley. She is survived by her niece, Debra Lincoln, of Glenwood; two great-nephews; two great-nieces; one great-great-niece; other relatives and friends.
