Wilma Earith, 85, Sidney
April 11, 1924 - June 24, 2009
Wilma Earith, age 85, of Sidney, formerly of Thurman, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at the Sidney Ambassador following an extended illness. Funeral services were held June 29, 2009, at Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney. Mr. Keith Hickey officiated. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Tabor.
She was born April 11, 1924, in Hastings, to Grover Cleveland Walston and Effie Luella (Ailshie) Walston. On Oct. 25, 1941, she was married to Hubert Kenneth Earith in Nebraska City, Neb. Mrs. Earith worked at Otoe Foods / Morton House in Nebraska City and as a nurses aide in nursing homes in Tabor and Malvern. She retired from the Glenwood State School where she worked in the laundry,
She enjoyed working in the yard, canning tomatoes in the summer, reading, going to yard sales and thrift store shopping. She took a lot of pride in her family and was very proud of being married to her husband so long. She loved animals and fed every stray cat in Thurman for years. Her family believed that the strays had knowledge of where to go for food and loving (if she could get near enough to pet them).
Mrs. Earith was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth (Kenny); son Kenneth Keith Earith; two sisters, Doris Mae Ogden and Daisy Winifred Walston; and five brothers, Leo; Ovid; Forrest; Melvin; Ansel; and an infant brother. She is survived by daughters Ruth Elaine Zarek and husband Robert of Council Bluffs; Mary Frances Earith and companion Carl Nielsen of Harlan; and Priscilla (Katie) McGinnis and companion Wesley Phillips of Nebraska City; seven grandchildren: five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Elmer Walston of Loveland, Colo.; numerous nieces; nephews; her special four legged friend Oreo and many other relatives and friends.
Memorials are suggested to Sidney Ambassador or Zion Cemetery Association.
