Vaccinations administered at Glen Haven, Linnwood

Residents and staff at Glen Haven Village skilled nursing care facility and Linnwood Estates assisted living received their first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine last week.

Glen Haven Village Administrator Julianne Marriott said 116 vaccinations were administered by staff from Walgreens Pharmacy. Walgreens is one of the national pharmacy partners distributing and administering COVID- 19 vaccines at long-term care facilities nationwide as part of the federal Long-term Care Pharmacy Partnership.

“The staff from Walgreens also did a lot of consultation for those who had questions and concerns,” Marriott said.

As of last week, 92 percent of Glen Haven Village residents had been vaccinated and 50 percent of the staff.

At Linnwood Estates, 86 percent of the tenants and 89 percent of the staff had received their first dose of the vaccine.

“We have two additional clinics scheduled for each facility in February,” Marriott said. “We hope to continue to increase our compliance at both facilities.”

The Pfizer vaccine has shown to have a 95 percent effective rate against COVID-19. The vaccine requires two doses administered 17-21 days apart.

Vaccinations are not mandatory at either facility.
