Three more COVID-19 cases confirmed in Mills County
Three additional cases of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Mills County over the past five days.
On Monday, the Mills County Public Health Office (MCPH) announced that it had been notified of two cases in which the virus was contracted through community spread. The new cases are adults between the ages of 18-40.
Monday’s announcement came three days after MCPH confirmed that a person under the age of 18 had contracted the virus.
MCPH is conducting contact investigations on the new cases to identify and follow-up with people who had close contact with the ill individuals. The close contacts are advised to quarantine for 14 days as a precaution and to self-monitor their health status by doing daily symptom and temperature checks with guidance from MCPH nurses.
As of Tuesday morning, five COVID-19 cases had been confirmed in Mills County since the start of the pandemic. MCPH also reported Monday that 103 individuals from Mills County have been tested.
As the numbers of confirmed cases and deaths continue to climb in Iowa, MCPH officials stress the need for residents to stay home as much as possible, take pesonal protective measures (hand-washing, cough etiquette and face coverings), avoid groups of people and to practice six-foot social-distancing measures.
