Rams can’t hold on to 8-run lead in 11-8 loss to Clarinda


Glenwood’s Audrew Albers had three htis and drove in two runs in the Rams’ loss to Clarinda last week.

Glenwood built a 8-0 lead but couldn’t withstand a late Clarinda rally in an 11-8 loss in Hawkeye 10 Conference softball Thursday in Clarinda.

The Cardinals (11-4) went scoreless through four innings before plating six runs in the fifth and five runs in the sixth.

Allison Koontz took the loss for the Rams (6-3 overall, 4-3 in the conference). The junior gave up 10 hits, eighth earned runs and struck out four.

Audrey Albers had three hits and drove in two runs to lead Glenwood. Sara Kolle, McKenna Koehler and Alyssa Liddick each drove in a run.

Mallory Woods came on in relief to earn the win. The freshman fanned three and allowed just one hit in 3 2/3 innings of work.

Janessa Woolsey had three hits and three RBIs for Clarinda.
    
Rams pick up Hawk-10 sweep

Allison Koontz picked up pair of complete game victories and helped her own cause at the plate with three hits, including a home rum, in Glenwood’s sweep of Council Bluffs Lewis Central last Monday in Hawkeye 10 Conference softball.
 

Koontz was strong in the circle in both games, allowing six hits, zero earned runs and striking out five in the 2-1 game one victory and scattering six hits and two earned runs in the 5-3 game two winner.

Koontz also went 3-for-5 at the plate, smacking her team-leading second home run of the season, and driving in a run.

Audrey Albers added hits and RBI for Glenwood.

Emerson Coziahr took the game one loss for the Titans and Cami Damgaard was credited with the game two loss.
