Rams’ Anderson, McChesney earn all-conference honors


Glenwood’s Maggie McChesney led the Rams in scoring this season after averaging 11.8 points per game.

Glenwood’s Kayden Anderson was tabbed for the first team on the All-Hawkeye 10 Conference basketball team released last week.

Anderson was unanimous first team selection after helping to lead the Rams to a fourth-place finish in the conference standings. The senior led the team in scoring (15.5 per game), steals (2.4 per game) and three-point shooting (38-of-125, 41.5 percent).
Atlantic’s Colton Rasmussen, Denison’s Luke Wiebers, Council Bluffs Lewis Central’s Nash Paulsen and Red Oak’s Max DeVries along with Anderson were unanimous first team selections by all conference coaches.

Also named to the first team were Creston’s Cael Turner, Denison’s Lance Arkfeld and Kuemper Catholic’s Michael Kasperbauer.

Rasmussen led the conference in scoring at 26.5 points per game while Arkfeld was the conference’s top rebounder at 10.7 per game.

The girls’ first team was headlined by unanimous selections Paytn Harter of Atlantic and the Council Bluffs Lewis Central duo of Lucy Scott and Brooke Larsen. Shenandoah’s Lynnae Green, Harlan’s Aubrey Schwieso, Council Bluffs St. Albert’s Ella Klusman, Harlan’s Erica Rust and Kiana Schulz also earned first team nods.

The Glenwood girls did not have a first team selection, but freshman Maggie McChesney was selected for the second tream. The lone freshman on either the first or second teams, McChesney led the Rams with 11.8 points per game while shooting 48-of-155 from behind the arc.

Glenwood’s Ayden Gibson and Casey Godbout along with Danika Arnold and Lauren Hughes all earned honorable mention.
