Glenwood second at own tournament

Glenwood crowned three champions and finished second as team at its own third annual Glenwood Invitational Wrestling Tournament Saturday.

The Rams’ had seven wrestlers reach the finals with Matt Beem (132-pounds), Reese Fauble (157) and Kellan Scott (165) winning their respective weight classes. Glenwood finished with 247 points for second place in the team standings.

Southeast Polk had 10 champions and won the team title with 360 points.

Beem capped a perfect day with a 4-3 victory over Justis Jesuroga of Southeast Polk in the 132-pound finals. Fauble pinned Sioux City North’s Caleb Cruz in the 157-pound finals and Scott notched a 9-4 victory over Southeast Polk’s Mazin Arafa in the finals.

The Rams’ Brody Black (106), Vinny Mayberry (120), Briten Maxwell (138) and Mason Koehler all finished second.

Black lost his finals match to Southeast Polk’s Nico DeSalvo while Vinny Mayberry was second after being pinned by Southeast Polk’s Carter Pearson in the 120-pound finals.

Briten Maxwell lost his 138-pound finals to Southeast Polk’s Wil Oberbroeckling by technical fall Koehler sufferd a tough 4-2 setback to Southeast Polk’s Holden Hansen in the 215-pound finals.

Rams split pair at Creston
The Glenwood wrestling team went on the road last Tuesday and split a pair of duels in Creston.
The Rams knocked off Treynor 60-12 and dropped a tight 39-22 match to the host Panthers.
Brody Black (106-pounds), Matt Beem (132), Treyton Williamson (144) and Mason Koehler (215) all went 2-0 on the night.
