Glenwood competes at Kansas Relays

The Glenwood boys and girls competed at the Kansas Relays at the University of Kansas last weekend in Lawrence, Kan.

The Rams girls competed in the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400,4x800, sprint medley and distance medley relays.

The 4x400 relay team of Danika Arnold, Neyla Nanfito, Lauren Hughes and Grace Berglund placed 13th to lead the Rams.

“This was a really cool experience for the girls, they have a great facility and just a really cool environment,” said Glenwood girls coach Jordan Bueltel. “We got to compete against some really good competition in a bigger environment.  It gave us a good measuring stick of where we are at now and what we need to improve on going forward as we approach the end of our season.”

The Glenwood boys’ distance medley relay team of  Payton Longmeyer, Trey Darden, Cooper DeLashmutt and Andrew Smith placed 21st

Reagan Skarnulis placed 24th overall in the shot with a top throw of 46 feet, nine inches and Bryant Keller was 29th in the 1,600-meter run.

Glenwood is back in action this week at the Drake Relays. The Rams qualified for Des Moines in four events. The girls will compete in the 4x200 and 4x100-meter relays while the boys’ have Bryant Keller in the 3,200-meters and the 4x100-meter relay.

“We are really excited to see what these teams can do up there on fresh legs,” Bueltel said.
 
Rams grab title at AL Invite

Glenwood claimed the team title at the eighth annual Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln Invitational at the Wickersham Athletic Complex Thursday.

The Rams won six events and tallied 147 points. Riverside was the runner up with 117 points.

“We had a lot of great performances and really a full team effort to come away with the victory,” said Glenwood coach Jordan Bueltel. “We had several girls step up and help us out as we had some girls with a lighter night before we went down to Kansas the next day.  It really shows the depth that this team has and how many girls we have waiting and willing to step into spots when we need them.”

individual golds for the Rams were Megan Hughes in the 200 meter dash, Breckyn Petersen in the 400 meter dash and Lauren Hughes in the 800.

The Rams also picked up relay golds in the 4x100 meter, 4x200 and 4x400-meter relays. Zoie Carda, Elaina Dougherty, Courtney Crawford and Allison Koontz ran a 52.01 to win the 4x100.

Carda, Koontz, Brooklyn Schultz and Danika Arnold ran a 1:48.68 to top the field in the  the 4x200 and Schultz, Hughes, Petersen and Danika Arnold ran a 4:06.98 to win the 4x400.
