Glenwood 1-1 at Thomas Jefferson Showcase

Glenwood finished 1-1 at the Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson Soccer Showcase at the Wickersham Athletic Complex Saturday.
The Rams (2-2) dropped their opener to Tri-Center 2-1 before bouncing back to knock off the host Yellowjackets 3-0.
In the opener, the Sophia Pratt scored the Rams’ goal off an assist from Brielle Allmon.
Zohie Payne and Lucy Eisener scored the Tigers’ goals.
“Field conditions were not great in the first game, and I am sure that played a factor,” said Glenwood coach Amy Benson. “The girls still gave it their all and if we played them again, I think the outcome would be different.”
Maddie McCaw started in goal and had four saves in game one.
Allmon had two goals and Abby Hargens one to lead the Rams.
“We passed very well in the TJ game and were able to build the attack from the defense up to the goal,” Benson said. “That was great to see. I was happy we were able to get that win on the second game with some tired bodies. We have played four games in six days. We’re just looking to improve every game.”
Baily Pleiss got the start in goal in game two and had one save.

Glenwood couldn’t finish around the net and Council Bluffs Lewis Central took advantage in a 3-0 girls soccer victory on a cold and rainy night at the Glenwood Activities Complex.
The match that featured a 30-minute weather delay was called off in the 55th minute because of thunderstorms.
“It was definitely a cold and wet game,” said Glenwood coach Amy Benson. “We had some great moments of soccer where we were able to move the ball around and get some chances on goal. Had we had some of our chances go in the first half I think it could have been a different game.”
As it was the Titans held a 12 to six shots on goal advantage. Lewis Central’s Irelynn White put two goals in, and Zoey Overall added a goal.
Maddie McCaw played in goal for the Rams and had nine saves.
Glenwood 10,
Atlantic 0
The Glenwood girls opened their season with a 10-0 road victory over of Atlantic Hawkeye 10 Conference soccer last Monday.
The Rams jumped out to a 6-0 lead at the half and capped the came with four quick second half goals to end it by “mercy rule.”
“The girls played well tonight,” said Glenwood girls coach Amy Benson. “We had a lot of different goal scorers as well as assist makers. I am excited for what’s to come the rest of the season.”
Brielle Allmon led the Rams with four goals and assisted on three other scores.
Sophia Pratt and Kasey Hilsabeck added goals and Mya Donscheski and Sadie Houser each chipped in goals.
Maddie McCaw started in goal for Glenwood and did not face a shot from the Trojans.
