Fremont-Mills wins Southwest Valley Co-ed Relays


Emily Madison won the high jump at the Southwest Valley Co-ed Relays with a top leap of five feet, two inches.

The Fremont-Mills girls won five events and captured the team title at the Southwest Valley Co-ed Relays Thursday in Corning.

Fremont-Mills had a strong showing from its relays while racking up 129 points to runner up CAM’s 101 points.

The Knights won the 4x100, 4x200, distance medley and shuttle hurdle relays. They also added a second place finish in the sprint medley.

Emily Madison won the high jump for the Knights’ lone individual gold.

The East Mills girls finished 10th. Jenna Thornburg (100-meter dash) and Sophie Morrical (400-meters) both placed fourth to lead the Wolverines.

The Fremont-Mills boys tied with East Mills with 45 points and eight place.

The Knight boys picked up a second place medal in both the 4x100 and distance medley relays. The Wolverines’ notched a gold in the distance medley relay and got a second place medal from Zach Thornburg in the 100-meters and from its 4x200 and 4x400-meter relays.

Fremont-Mills girls win Corner Conference title

The Fremont-Mills girls captured four individual titles and bested the field in the team standings to win their third straight Corner Conference Track title last Monday in Tabor.

The Knights tallied 195 points to easily outpace runner-up Griswold’s 112 points. In addition to their four gold medals earned by Lana Alley in the 400-meters, Emily Madison in the high jump, Macy Mitchell in the shot and its shuttle hurdle relay team, the Knights placed second in nine other events.

The East Mills girls got a first place showing from  Jenna Thornburg in the 400-meters and s second in the 100 while finishing sixth in the team standings with 45 points.

On the boys side, Griswold edged Fremont-Mills 137 to 132 in the team scores to win the conference crown.

Cooper Marvel notched golds in both the shot and the discus to lead the Knights. Landon Baker, Blake Schaaf, Carter Rycroft and Luke Madison won gold in the shuttle hurdle relay.

East Mills was third in the boys team standings with 97 points.

Zach Thornburg picked up a quarter of conference meet gold medals in the 100 and 200-meters and intthe 4x100-meter rand sprint medley relays.

Caleb Urban added a gold in the 800 and a second place finish in the 400.

The Wolverines also picked up a gold medal in the distance medley relay.
