Ronald Paul Lee, Sr., 66, of Glenwood
Ronald Paul Lee, Sr., 66, of Glenwood, formerly of Lancaster, Calif., entered into eternal rest on May 24, 2010, in Council Bluffs. Services were held Friday, May 28, 2010, at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood with Pastor Dean McPherson officiating. Interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Lee was born June 21, 1943, in Boston, Mass., and was raised by his mother Helen (Saunders) and step-father Al Hughes. Following graduation, he faithfully served his country in the Air Force from 1960-64. He then worked for NASA on the X15 test program.
Ron was united in marriage to Eldona Jean Wyant on Jan. 15, 1965, in Lancaster. To this union three children were born, Janice, Ronald Jr. and John. Their family moved to Glenwood in 1969. In 1970 Ron joined the Glenwood Police Department and later became employed with MidAmerican Energy as a control room operator until his retirement in 2006. Ron was an avid Hawkeye Fan and enjoyed doing things to better his country and community. He dearly loved his family, especially his 13 grandchildren. Ron was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 141 and the Eagles.
Preceding Ron in death were his parents. He is survived by his wife Eldona Lee of Glenwood; children, Janice and husband Val Ryks of Glenwood; Ronald, Jr. and wife Jonene Lee of Omaha; John Lee of Glenwood; 13 grandchildren; sister Anita Schuberth of Bedford, Mass.; brother, Patrick and wife Melissa Hughes of Jacksonville, Fla; one nephew; two nieces; extended relatives and a host of friends. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s.
