Ronald “Ron” Rex Perkins, 73, of Weeping Water, Neb., formerly of Malvern, passed away Jan. 22, 2012, in Omaha, Neb. A celebration of life service will be held at Peterson Mortuary of Glenwood at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012. June Focken will officiate. Following the service there will be a gathering and refreshments at the home of Harold and Barbara Kaiman: 1711 Timber Lane, Glenwood. Interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Ron was born May 15, 1938, in Council Bluffs, to Glen Rex and Lucille (Bowley) Perkins. Ron graduated from Glenwood High School in 1956. He was united in marriage to Linda Kay Hoover Dec. 16, 1960, in Malvern. To this union, two sons were born, Barry and Darcy. Ron was employed with several packing companies for many years and later worked at the Glenwood Resource Center for more than 20 years until his retirement. He was a member of the National Guard for nine years. Ron enjoyed fishing and trap and skeet shooting where he was a member of the Southwest Iowa Sportsman Club. Ron also loved to play cards with family and friends.
Preceding Ron in death were his parents. He is survived by his wife, Linda Perkins of Weeping Water; children, Barry and Verlee Perkins of Jefferson; Darcy and Jane Perkins of Avoca, Neb.: nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Gary and Joanna Perkins of Malvern; nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.
