Return Of The Eagles

PACIFIC JUNCTION - The birds are back.
Bald eagles, between 30 and 50 of them, have made their way to a rural area of Mills County west of Interstate 29.

Early last week, the eagles could be seen perched on tree branches near a borrow-pit lake by the  Mid America Motorplex. Monday morning, residents of the area reported seeing nearly 40 eagles in grassy areas near the motorplex.
One year ago this week, an estimated 100 bald eagles flocked to the same area, creating a spectacle of nature rarely seen in Mills County. Conservation officials said eagles aren’t known to be migratory birds so they were uncertain if the eagles would return again this year.
