Ram wrestlers go 1-1 in duals against Clarinda, Atlantic

The Glenwood wrestling team split a pair of duals at a Hawkeye 10 Conference triangular Thursday night in Atlantic.

The Rams doubled-up Clarinda, 48-24, while falling to the host Trojans, 57-23.

“We knew it was going to be tough. Atlantic is tough – they haven’t been beat in a dual this year,” Glenwood coach Brad Asche said. “We did have some guys that went out and wrestled really well for us.”

Brett Mower (182) posted a pair of decisive victories for the Rams – pinning Clarinda’s Jakob Child’s in 1:12 and winning by technical fall over Atlantic’s Marcus Duranceau, 23-7, in 4:23. Glenwood’s Nick Gill (170) picked up a pair of wins, also, winning by forfeit against the Cardinals and by fall (1:48) against Atlantic’s Sam Martin.

The Rams were scheduled to wrestle Saturday in the Ed Winger Invitational in Urbandale, but the inclement winter weather forced the cancellation of the tournament.

The Rams wrestled at Carroll Kumeper last night (Tuesday) and will compete Saturday in Shenandoah at the Hawkeye 10 Conference meet.
