Carolyne Jeanne Karr, 86

Carolyne Jeanne Karr, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024, in Aurora, Nebraska, at the age of 86.  She was born on Nov. 25, 1937, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, to Glen and Winnifred Larsen.

Carolyne grew up in Plattsmouth, where she developed a love for music and the arts, playing the clarinet in her school band and embracing a lifelong passion for reading and crafting. Carolyne graduated from Plattsmouth High School and on July 29, 1956, Carolyne marriedRichard Charles Karr in Plattsmouth, Neb.  After spending many years raising children on their family farm north of Pacific Junction, she went on to pursue a nursing degree at the age of 50. She became a Charge Nurse at a hospital and took care of patients at long-term care facilities.

Carolyne was a skilled quilter, a talented singer, who often performed at funerals, and an avid gardener. Her love for words made her an exceptional wordsmith. She was also a member of the Jolly Women’s Club and the Pacific Junction Community Club, where she made lasting contributions and lifelong friendships.

Carolyne is survived by her devoted husband, Richard of Grand Island; her children, Richard “Rick” (Heather) Karr, Jr. of Philadelphia, Crystal (Mike) Dees of Glenwood, Lori Forsythe of Grand Island, Neb., and Pat (Jessica) Karr of Grand Island; her siblings, Dianna Perry, Mary Pohlmeier, Donnie Larsen, Terri Dittemore, and Mike Larsen; 12 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Kenny Larsen; her sister, Patsy Shepherd; and her son-in-law, Russ Forsythe.

A memorial service to celebrate Carolyne’s life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, with Rev. Lee Wigert officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, June 15 from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. before the Services at the Church with family greeting friends.

Carolyne will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, Nebraska.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association of Omaha

Arrangements are under the care of Brian P. Harvey Funeral Home, in Plattsmouth, Neb.
