Rams third at Carlisle tournament
Glenwood was 3-2 on the day and claimed third place at the Carlisle Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.
“It was good to see some different competition on Saturday,” said Glenwood coach Jenn Schneider. “I thought out girls played really well. We had some ups and downs, but they found ways to respond really well and ended the day super strong.”
In Pool A, the Rams went 1-1 with a win over Des Moines East 21-9, 21-11 and a loss to Ankeny Christian 21-13, 21-17. In bracket play, they picked up a 21-14, 21-12 quarterfinal win over Des Moines North before falling to Southeast Polk, 15-21, 21-19, 15-8 in the semifinals.
Glenwood came back to defeat the host Wildcats 21-9, 21-10 to pick up the third-place trophy.

Glenwood 22-16-25-10
Kuemper Catholic came into Glenwood and grabbed a 25-22, 25-16, 23-25, 25-10 over the Rams in a class of ranked volleyball teams last Tuesday.
The Class 3A, No. 12 Knights grabbed wins in the first two sets, and it was too much for the Class 4A, No. 11 ranked Rams to dig out of.
“We definitely had our chances in a close first set, and I was pleased with coming out strong in the third to take that set,” said Glenwood coach Jenn Schneider. “The girls could have easily let up after the first two. Our serve-receive looked really good all night. Kuemper presented a big block against our offense which seemed to slow us down and find what clicks for us.
“It was definitely a learning night for us both physically and mentally. I thought the girls still gave everything they had in the tank.”
The Knights hit .193 as team with 51 kills. Kolbi Peter smacked 20 kills and Nariah Heuton 12.
The Rams struggled with some consistency at the net, hitting .085 as a team with 40 kills. Jenna Walters notched 13 kills and Jordyn Schulte 11 to lead Glenwood.
Kayla Christian had 32 sets assists to lead the offense and Jacie Kanngieser 14 digs to lead the Ram defense.
