East Mills offense struggles in home loss

Green Mountain-Garwin built a 34-0 lead after three quarters and never looked back in a 34-12 victory over East Mills in the first ever meeting between the two schools in Malvern Friday.

The Wolverines (3-2) struggled to get on track offensively and in slowing GMG quarterback Ethan Klemesrud. The senior threw for 125 yards and ran for 90 yards while having a hand in three touchdowns.

East Mills co-head coach Trenton Turney called GMG a “fast, physical and well-coached team.”

“We had opportunities to score in the red zone but couldn’t convert in the first half and couple missed tackles in the second quarter paid it hard for us to come back,” he said. “However, I felt like we won the second half even though we didn’t come back. We just have to keep working to be better in all four quarters instead of one half.”

East Mills out-scored the other Wolverines 12-6 in the second half.

East Mills finished with 253 yards of offense in the loss. Mason Camden completed 10-of-15 passes for 89 yards and ran for a touchdown. Landon Gibbs tallied 70 yards and a TD on the ground.Gibbs paced the Wolverines’ defense with five solo tackles and Greg Lewis had two tackles and recovered two fumbles.

East Mills faces off against Sidney (0-2) in a road district match up Friday. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. in Sidney.
