Wolverines 2-1 at Shenandoah

The East Mills wrestling team went 2-1 in quadrangular at Shenandoah last Tuesday.

The Wolverines recorded victories over Griswold 48-6 and Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton 45-17. The lone loss came to the host Mustangs, 42-30.

“We have been working on trying to create more opportunities to score in matches recently,” said East Mills coach Claude Lang. “We did a great job of taking chances and just ‘going for it.’”

The Mustangs got past East Mills with late victories in two key matches and despite both teams recording three falls each in the dual.

“We lost two matches at the very end, which would have led to a win,” Lang said. “One with five seconds left, and the other with about 20 seconds left. If anyone needed motivation to finish the season, we dual Shen again next week, and those two will definitely be looking for some revenge.”

East Mills improved its dual record to 18-9 this season.
