Ron D. Burger, 61, Malvern

Ron Dean Burger, age 61, of Malvern, formerly of Harlan, died at Glen Haven Home in Glenwood on Feb. 21, 2009. Memorial services will be held in Harlan at a later date.

One of five children of Clara Irene (Johansen) and Darrell Dean Burger, he was born on Jan. 13, 1948, in Council Bluffs. He grew up and attended schools in Harlan.

Mr. Burger had been married briefly and was disabled due to health problems. He resided in a Harlan care facility for 32 years. In 2002, he moved to Malvern to live with his sister Judy Will. He could be seen around town at the post office, grocery store or drug store. He was a quiet and friendly man who enjoyed visiting and sharing a laugh. He entered the Glen Haven Home in Glenwood, on Feb. 2, 2009.

Mr. Burger was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sisters, Sandra Kopta of Greenbelt, Md.; Patricia Nordby of Salida, Colo.; Judith Will of Malvern; brother Tom Burger of Los Angeles, Calif.; son Jody Burger of Oronogo, Mo.; stepmother Marcia Burger of Cassville, Mo.; nieces and nephews; many cousins in the Omaha area; other relatives and friends. Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home of Malvern was in charge of local arrangements.
