Treynor ends Knights' season

    The Fremont-Mills boys basketball team’s season came to an end on Thursday with a 54-45 loss to Treynor in the Class 1A, District 1 semifinals.
    The Knights (15-8) trailed 34-25 at the half but managed to rally in the third quarter behind a 10-2 run to trim the Cardinals’ lead to 36-35 heading into the fourth quarter. But Treynor (21-1) responded with a 10-2 run of its own to open the fourth quarter en route to the win.
    Fremont-Mills struggled with its shooting against the Cardinals, finishing 18-of-56 from the field (32.1 percent), including 3-of-21 on three’s.
    The Cardinals’ Chris Zimmerman repeatedly burned the Knights from behind the arc, hitting six of their eight three pointers and finishing with a game-high 22 points.
    Nate Meier led the Knights with 15 points. Clayton Wilson added eight points.
    Treynor went on to lose to Council Bluffs St. Albert in the District 1 finals, 47-45.
