Mary L. Hayward, 62, Council Bluffs

    Mary Lauralee Hayward, 62, of Council Bluffs, passed away Jan. 19, 2012, at Hospice with Heart in Glenwood. Funeral services were Jan. 25, 2012, at Hertz Funeral Home in Glenwood with interment to be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established. 
    Mary, one of three children of Elda Marie (Kahl) and Walter Hayward, was born June 9, 1949, in Glenwood. At 18 months, Mary contracted poliomyelitis. She grew up in the Glenwood and Mineola areas, attended Vogler School in Mineola and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1968. Following school, Mary worked as a CNA in nursing homes in the area. She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola.
    She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; and older infant brother, James Richard Hayward. She is survived by her brother, Robert Hayward and wife Nona of Leesburg, Va.; nephews, Rob Hayward of Leesburg; and Todd Hayward and wife Priscilla, and their daughters, Avery and Audrey, of Broadlands, Va.; niece, Jill Arnestad and husband Josh and their sons, Chase, Cooper and Flynn, of Lansdowne, Va.; cousin, Cindy McCollester and husband Jim of Silver City; other relatives and friends; and especially her good friend Brenda Lewis of Council Bluffs.
