Lynn F. Merritt, 77, Glenwood

Lynn Franklin Merritt, 77, of Glenwood, entered into eternal rest on Dec. 4, 2010, in Council Bluffs. Services will be held today, Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church in Glenwood. Pastor Evan Welcher and Darrell Sargent will officiate. Burial will be in East Liberty Cemetery, Malvern, at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Glenwood Fire & Rescue, Stephens Center or the Glenwood Public Library Children’s Room.
He was born Aug. 28, 1933, in Pacific Junction, (Pony Creek). He graduated from Glenwood High School. Lynn faithfully served his country as a Sea Bee in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. Lynn was united in marriage to Betty June Cashatt on April 10, 1954, in Yuma, Ariz. To this union two sons were born, Bradford Jay Merritt and Anthony Merritt.
He was an honest, sincere, hardworking and dedicated individual. Lynn was completely devoted to his family and had a tremendous work ethic. He was employed in the automotive field with NAPA for 35 1/2 years until his health forced him into retirement. He was a member and past commander of the V.F.W., American Legion and a charter member of the JayCee’s.
Preceding Lynn in death were his parents, brothers, Glen and Edward Merritt and sister, Ethel Wray. He is survived by his wife, Betty Merritt of Glenwood; sons, Bradford Jay Merritt of Denver, Colo.; Anthony (Tony) and wife Monica Merritt of Glenwood; two grandchildren, Toby and Felica Merritt and three great-grandchildren, Brianna, Cameron and Damon Merritt; sister, Elva and husband Albert Roenfeld of Mineola; sister-in-law, Carrie Merritt of Glenwood; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends.
Peterson Mortuary of Glenwood is in charge of arrangements.
