Michael Lee “Dawg” Pollock, 47, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, April 10, 2010, in Mt. Pleasant. A private family service will be held. Memorials may be directed to the family. Born April 29, 1962, in Iowa City, he was the son of Sandra Kay Pollock. He received his education in the North Mahaska School District. For the past ten years he has lived in Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Pollock was an ironworker. He worked for Dant Clayton Corporation in Louisville, Ky. and Omaha Wilbert Vault of Omaha. He had been self-employed as a carpenter and most recently worked for Norris Asphalt Paving Company of Ottumwa. He was a member of ABATE. He especially enjoyed motorcycle rallies and supported many charitable causes through poker-runs. He loved music and concerts, camping and fishing.
Mr. Pollock was preceded in death by his grandparents. Along with his mother, Sandra Rogers of New Sharon, he is survived by three daughters, Amber (Tony) Pollock-Jones of Sigourney; Brooke Smiley of Glenwood; Alexis Pollock of West Burlington; two sons, Paul Pollock of Oskaloosa; and Spencer Johnston of Newton; five sisters, Jody Tuley of Chariton; Tracy Stump of Pella; Stacy DeReus of Oskaloosa; Deseiri Scholtus of Fremont; and Tammy Russell of New Sharon; three brothers, Jaydee Mitchell of Rose Hill; Jim Milligan of Lynnville; and Dennis Pollock of Bennett; long-time companion, Glenda Elmore, of West Burlington; and a good friend, Rick Carmer of Des Moines. He is also survived by four grandsons, Gavin, Talan, Aidan and Grayson.
