Veterans Day Observances Planned In Mills County

The annual Veterans Day program outside the Mills County Courthouse is set for Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.
Several Veterans Day-related observances will take place over the next week in Mills County.
The East Mills Community School District Veterans Day Program will be on Friday, Nov. 7, starting at 10 a.m. at the school in Malvern. There will be a lunch following the program at the Malvern Community Building for all who have served.
A complimentary Veterans Appreciation Breakfast is planned for Saturday, Nov. 8, from 7:30-10 a.m. in Silver City at Gordon May American Legion Post 439. The event is open to the public. Free-will offerings will be accepted. Doors will open at 7 a.m.
On Sunday, Nov. 9, the public is Invited to a “Salute to Services” program at the Mills County Freedom Rock in Emerson’s Evans Park. Major General (Ret.) Christopher P. Hughes will be the guest speaker and Freedom Rock artist Ray “Bubba” Sorensen II plans to be in attendance.
American Legion groups from across Mills County will be participating.
A food Truck will be available at 11a.m. with the program to follow at 1 p.m. Attendees are advised to bring lawn chairs.
Emily Swinford of Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate, The Good Life Group, and Rachel Pierce of Benchmark Mortgage are hosting the 7th Annual Veterans Day Breakfast on Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 7-9 a.m. at Harvey T. Rimel American Legion Post 141, 104 N. Vine St. in Glenwood.
All veterans, active duty service members and their families are invited to enjoy a free breakfast as a way to honor and celebrate the community’s heroes.
The meal will be prepared by staff and volunteers from Glen Haven Village
Glenwood Community High School’s annual Veterans Day assembly is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 9:30 a.m., in the main gymnasium at the school. The public is invited to attend the event.
The annual outdoor Veterans Day observance in Glenwood, coordinated by Harvey T. Rimel American Legion Post 141, is planned for 11 a.m. in the courtyard outside the Mills County Courthouse.
Trinity Lutheran Church at Second and Locust Street in Glenwood will host a free appreciation lunch for veterans and one guest on Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., in the church’s fellowship hall.
