Sewer Extension Work Leads To More Road Closures In Glenwood

Sharp Street, west of Park Street was closed to motor vehicle traffic last week. Additionally, a section of South Locust Street, between Arnold and Townsend Street, is expected to close Wednesday, Oct. 16, for two weeks.

The Year Of The Detour continues in Glenwood.
Closures of two major roads in the city were announced last week by Eagle Engineering Group, the city’s engineering consultant, and Compass Utility, the general contractor overseeing the work.
On Thursday, Sharp Street, west of Park Street, was closed for the installation of sanitary sewer line extensions connecting to the new Arbor Hills subdivision along West 6th Street. The closure prevents motorists from using the popular thoroughfare that connects to U.S. Highway 34 from the west end of the city. The Sharp Street closure is expected to last approximately two weeks.
As part of the same sanitary sewer extension work, a portion of Locust Street, between Arnold Street and Townsend Street, is expected to close today, also for two weeks.
Motorists will be directed to detour routes at both road closure locations.
