Henderson Special Election Will Fill Vacant Council Seat
A special election will take place in Henderson Aug. 2 to fill a vacancy on the city council.
James Stone and Scott Schondelmeyer are seeking the council seat that’s open following the resignation of Charles Yochum.
“The city council wanted to do a special election instead of appointing somebody to fill the position,” Mills County Election Assistant Katie Dodge said.
Voting on Election Day will be at the Henderson City Hall from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. Absentee ballot requests must be received by the Mills County Auditor’s Office not later than 5 p.m. on Monday, July 18. Absentee ballots must be returned to the auditor’s office by 8 p.m. on Aug. 2.
Absentee voting in person begins today (July 13) at the Mills County Auditor’s Office. The auditor’s office will have extended hours from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Monday, July 18, and Friday, July 29.
For additional information about the election or voter registration, Henderson residents should contact the Mills County Auditor’s Office at 712-527-3146.
