Glenwood Lake Park will be the site of the 2023 Iowa Arborist Association’s Iowa Tree Climbing Competition on Saturday.

Dozens of arborists from across the state are expected to take park in the 16th annual competition, being held in southwest Iowa for the first time.

The participants will compete in several areas to showcase their tree-climbing skills, including speed and aerial rescue, which requires a climber to rescue a dummy that’s hanging in the tree.
The competitors are expected to start arriving in Glenwood on Friday.

Competitors are required to sign a waiver and have their gear inspected.

The competition will be going on throughout the day on Saturday.

According to a spokesperson for the Iowa Arborist Association, weather  conditions will be monitored by the event’s judges.
If activity is postponed due to inclement weather on Saturday, the competition will be rescheduled for Sunday.
