Glenwood Holiday Festival On Tap Dec. 5-6

Horse and carriage rides are among the activities planned for the Glenwood Holiday Festival.
From the arrival of Santa Claus and a Christmas tree lighting ceremony to a ginger bread competition and a nutcracker scavenger hunt, a variety of activities are planned for the annual Glenwood Holiday Festival taking place this weekend in Glenwood.
The following events are planned for Friday evening and throughout the day Saturday.
Friday, Dec. 5
4 -8 p.m. - Holiday décor competition at participating businesses. Blue ornament signs will be displayed at each participating business. Cash donations for the favorite décor will be accepted with all proceeds donated to the Glenwood Betterment Association for the purchase of way finding signage in Glenwood.
4 – 8 p.m.- Nutcracker Scavenger Hunt. Player cards can be obtained at participating businesses. Each participating business will have a nutcracker displayed. Once a player spots the nutcracker, an employee of that business will stamp the player’s card. At the end of the day, the player’s card should be dropped off at any of the participating businesses to be entered into a drawing.
4-8 p.m.- Free horse and carriage rides from Mills County Courthouse center parking lot.
4-8 p.m.- Free hot cocoa and Grinch meet and greet at Vine Street Café and Bakery.
4 – 8 p.m. – Free hot cocoa on southwest corner of Town Square.
4-8 p.m. – Maker’s Market at American Legion Hall.
4-8 p.m. – Write A Letter to Santa at American Legion Hall.4-8 p.m., - Snowball fight at southwest corner of Town Square.
4-8 p.m. – Face painting and coloring at Joe Designer T-shirt and Sign Co.
4-8 p.m.- Ginger Bread competition. Create a ginger bread house and bring it to the American Legion Hall for judging Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
4-6 p.m. – Free parent-led crafts for children at Bloom Senior Center.
5:30 p.m. – Christmas Caroling by Glenwood Middle School Choir by Christmas Tree on southeast corner of Town Square.
6 p.m. – Tree lighting ceremony on southeast corner of Town Square.
6-8 p.m. – Santa arrives at 6 p.m. and will be available for photos near the Christmas Tree on southeast corner of Town Square.6:30 – 11 p.m. – Christmas Light bus tour rides. Contact Sharp Blade’s for additional information.
7-8:30 p.m. – Movie at the Rex Theatre – the holiday classic Miracle On 34th Street.
Saturday, Dec. 6
8:30—10:30 a.m. – Breakfast With Santa at the Mills County YMCA. Pancake breakfast, children’s games, crafts and photos with Santa.
