Glenwood Community School District Nearing End Of Superintendent Search
The Glenwood Community School District will conduct final interviews for its permanent superintendent position on Dec. 2, according to school board President Matt Portrey.
Nicole Kooiker has served as the district’s interim superintendent since the resignation of former superintendent Dr. Devin Embray last spring.
Portrey declined to say how many applicants the position has drawn or how many candidates will be interviewed but did say the applicant pool has been geographically diverse, in both terms of superintendent experience and school system size.
“We’ve been pleased with the process this far, receiving good insights from the public on what qualifications and skill sets are important to them, helping to guide our process,” Portrey said. “We’ll also be including some community members along with educators and administrators during the final interview process.”
Grundmeyer Leader Services, the same consulting firm the district used in the hiring of Kooiker from the Cedar Rapids School District, was contracted to assist in the permanent hiring process.
The finalists will be announced prior to the final interviews.
Portrey did confirm Kooiker is among the applicants for the permanent position.
