Glenwood Community School District Names Interim Superintendent

The Glenwood Community School District Board of Directors has announced Nicole Kooiker has accepted the offer to serve the district as the interim superintendent for the 2024-25 school year. Her hire will be official pending approval at their May board meeting.
Kooiker was hired by the Cedar Rapids Community School District in 2020 as the Deputy Superintendent. Currently, she holds a support role at Roosevelt Middle School. Prior to this role, she was the chief executive officer and superintendent at Ottumwa Community School District from 2016 to 2020. Prior to her time in Ottumwa, Kooiker led the West Marshall Community School District as Chief Executive Officer and Superintendent. While in Cedar Rapids, Kooiker has helped lead the second-largest school district in Iowa, focusing on curriculum, instruction, assessment, and the expansion of early learning and magnet school offerings.
Kooiker holds a specialist degree in educational leadership from the University of Northern Iowa and is currently pursuing a doctorate in education from the University of Iowa.
Kooiker said she was excited to accept the position stating, "I am deeply honored to accept the interim superintendent position at Glenwood Community School District. I am eager to work collaboratively with the dedicated staff, passionate parents, and talented students to ensure a smooth transition and continue advancing the district's commitment to academic excellence and student success.”
Kooiker will formally begin leading the Glenwood Community School District effective July 1, 2024. The search for the long-term superintendent will begin late next fall.
