East Mills, Sidney Name New Superintendent
The East Mills Community School District and Sidney Community School District have named their next shared superintendent.
Pending the approval of the school boards at both districts, Michael Brown will assume his new duties as superintendent on July 1. He’ll replace retiring East Mills - Sidney superintendent Tim Hood.
The East Mills and Sidney school districts announced the decision to hire Brown in a joint press release last week. Brown is currently the director of Quest Forward High School in Omaha.
In his current position, Brown has managed several departments and school efforts, according to the press release. These include overseeing a $3.5 million budget, facilities and grounds, transportation, and the supervision and evaluation of administration and faculty.
Brown holds an education specialist degree in school administration from Wayne State College in Nebraska and a master’s degree in education from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Prior to his current position, Brown served as superintendent of Boyd County Public Schools in Spencer, Neb.
“I am excited and honored to be selected as the shared superintendent for the East Mills and Sidney Schools,” said Brown. “My family and I are looking forward to becoming active members of the community and getting to know the staff, families, and students. I am eager to collaborate with the dedicated communities of both districts to ensure a high-achieving and forward-thinking educational experience.”
East Mills Board President Mark Stearns and Sidney Board President Renee Johnson released the following shared statement:
“We are thrilled to welcome Michael Brown as our shared superintendent and are confident in his ability to lead our districts toward continued success. His proven track record of effective leadership, coupled with his passion for creating a cohesive educational environment, makes him an ideal choice for this role. We look forward to working closely with him to achieve our shared goals and aspirations for the benefit of our students and communities.”
