County Nearly Done Allocating ARPA Funds
Mills County has spent or designated about 84 percent of its federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars from the federal government, according to figures provided by the Mills County Auditor’s Office.
ARPA is federal funding approved in 2021 by Congress and President Joe Biden to assist local communities with recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mills County was awarded nearly $3 million ($2,984,746) and has just under $250,000 ($249,987) left to spend.
All ARPA funds must be designated by Dec. 31, 2024, and actually spent by September 30, 2026.
Mills County Auditor Ami Petersen said Mills County has spent or dedicated ARPA dollars to the following projects:
RT Vision (electronic time sheets for the county) - $14,175.
COTT System (online historical record books) - $70,905.
Glen Haven, Inc. (assist in recovery of COVID-related financial hardship / losses) - $261,067.62.
Fiber Optics (installation / county wide) - $555,083.53.
Mills County Jail (improvements/ upgrades) - $215,406.29.
Emergency Management Drones - $17,313.98.
Surface Pro - $1,328.07.
County Buildings WiFi Upgrades - $8,009.19.
Mills County Sheriff’s Vehicles and Dash Camera - $63,384.
Mills County Annex Building - $698,106.68.
City Of Glenwood Trails - $150,000.
City Of Henderson Project - $10,000.
City Of Silver City (ADA compliant bathrooms) - $10,328.23.
East Mills Childcare Solutions - $150,000.
911/PSAP (consoles and renovation) - $114,671.62.
Veterans Administration (building purchase) - $137,489.28.
Courthouse Sidewalks - $61,225.
Courthouse Bathrooms - $55,657.52.
Glenwood Fire Department (motorized inflatable boat) - $23,835.
Mills County Secondary Roads (bore / trench path) - $12,793.55.
Mills County Conservation (vehicle) - $39,825.
Elections Equipment - $64,154.
Total spent / dedicated to date - $2,734,758.56.
Petersen said the county’s remaining ARPA dollars are tagged for the Mills County Jail.
