The brick surface was removed from Coolidge Street.

The project includes storm sewer and resurfacing work on Tyson Street.

Work appears to be on track for a timely completion of the Coolidge Street resurfacing project south of the Glenwood Fire Station.

The project consists of resurfacing Coolidge Street, from Locust Street on the west to Walnut Street on the east, and some storm sewer and resurfacing work to the south along Tyson Street.

The project was awarded to Council Bluffs-based Carley Construction for $232,848 in January by the Glenwood City Council.

For decades, Coolidge Street was a brick surface, but had deteriorated in recent years and become a treacherous stretch of roadway for motorists. The project involves replacing the bricks with concrete.  After being removed, the pavers are being saved for repairs to other brick streets in the future.

Crews from Carley Construction have been working on Tyson since late March. The focus shifted to Coolidge Street late last week with the removal of bricks and a leveling of the base for the concrete, which started getting poured on Monday morning.
The project is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
