Body Found In Missouri River Near Highway 370 Bridge In April Identified

The Mills County Sheriff’s Office says the body of the unknown male who was found in the Missouri River north of the Highway 370 bridge on April 23 has been identified but as of Tuesday morning the person’s name had not been released to the public.

“As of right now, as far as my knowledge, we have not been able to make contact with family, so we’re waiting until official notification goes out before we release,” Mills County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh England said Monday.

England said the body is of a 41-year-old man believed to be from the Omaha area.

“It’s unknown how he ended up in the river, but I can tell you foul play is not suspected,” he said.

On Thursday, the sheriff’s office released a statement seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the body. The statement included information on the clothing the person was wearing at the time the body was discovered last spring and details about some of the tattoos on his body.

The sheriff’s office announced Friday the body had been identified and thanked the public for its assistance in the case.
