Matthew K. Buckner, 22, Malvern
Matthew Kyle Buckner, age 22, of Malvern, died at Creighton University Hospital in Omaha, from injuries suffered from a vehicle accident on April 5, 2009, near Malvern. Memorial Services were held at Hertz Funeral Home in Glenwood, Friday, April 10, 2009. Officiating was Deb Rivers with private interment in the Martin Chapel Cemetery, Pacific Junction.
One of four children of Phyllis Dorraine (Hammers) Buckner and Thomas William Buckner, he was born on Sept. 13, 1986, in Hamburg. He grew up and attended school in Malvern. He received his GED in 2003, when he graduated from the Job Corps in Denison. He returned to Malvern and ran heavy equipment for the union, then worked as a farm laborer for Gary Smith in Mills County. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, where the party was, he was sure to be there. He would help anyone; from fixing their cars, to giving them money or just keeping them company. His quote was: “Whatever you gotta to tell yourself to get through the day.”
Mr. Buckner was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph Hammers and Betty Hammers Bare; grandmother Phyllis Buckner; aunt Melissa Buckner; and uncle Keith Hammers. He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Buckner of Malvern; father Tom Buckner of Omaha; sister Rachel Buckner of Malvern; brothers, Andrew Buckner of Tabor; and Tyler Buckner of Malvern; grandfather Marlin “Bucky” Buckner and special friend Connie Harper of Malvern; several aunts, two uncles; one niece; one nephew; many other relatives and friends. A memorial fund has been established.
