Mary Lou Hakenson, 80, Council Bluffs

Mary Lou Hakenson age 80, of Council Bluffs, died May 9, 2009. Visitation with family will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, (Wednesday) at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, May, 14 at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Reverend Tony Paff will officiate.

She was born in Glenwood, on March 11, 1929, to Howard and Edith Miller and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1946. She married Clayton Hakenson on Dec. 28, 1957, and to this union Bryan, Neal and Lynn were born. She was a long-time member of First Congregational Church and their Women’s Fellowship group.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Richard Miller. Survivors include her husband of almost 52 years, Clayton of Council Bluffs; sons, Bryan of Glenwood; Neal and wife Diane of Omaha; Lynn and wife Cindy of Waukee; six grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Chambers of Minden; Nancy Lincoln of Glenwood; Sally Duensing of Council Bluffs; Patty Cundall of Crescent; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to Glenwood Fire and Rescue and First Congregational Women’s Fellowship.
