Malvern house destroyed by fire

MALVERN - A Malvern house and its contents were destroyed by a fire Tuesday morning, Jan. 2.

The house in the southwest section of the city, was occupied by Renee Lynn and her daughter Jayme. They were not injured in the blaze. They left the house after seeing smoke but lost all of their possessions.

The Malvern Fire Department, with assistance from firefighters from Hastings and Glenwood, were on the scene for most of the daylight hours on Jan. 2. Malvern firefighters returned Wednesday when debris started smoldering again.

Malvern Fire Chief Dwain Pelzer said the fire may have been electrical or possibly caused by a space heater.

On Sunday, a benefit spaghetti supper was held for the Lynn family at the Liberty Memorial Community Building in Malvern.
