Knights’ Hontz named District 7 Defensive POY
Fremont-Mills’ Andrew Hontz is the Eight-player, District 7 Defensive Player of the Year and one of seven Knights to earn first team recognition on the all-district team released last week.
District coaches tabbed Hontz, a senior, as a first team selection on the defensive line and as a utility player on the offense in addition to defensive player of the year honors. Hontz recorded 76 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and nine sacks this season.
CAM quarterback Thomas Hensley was the offensive player of the year.
Sidney head coach Donnie Sears, whose team finished the regular season 9-0, was the District 7 Coach of the Year.
Joining Hontz on the first team defense were defensive lineman Austin Gartner, linebacker Seth Malcom, defensive back James Switzer and utility player Jaeger Powers.
Powers and Hontz joined offensive lineman Blake Hurley on the first team.
East Mills’ Dylan Schroder earned first team honors as a wide receiver.
