Jack R. Sprague, 72, of St Louis, Mo., and formerly of Glenwood, died June 22, 2009, in St. Louis. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 30, 2009, in St. Louis with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery in St. Louis.
He was born Oct. 27, 1936, in Plattsmouth, Neb., to John R. and Pearl (Dunn) Sprague. He graduated from Glenwood High School in 1955 and attended the University of Missouri and the University of Nebraska. In 1997 Mr. Sprague retired from a long career with National Elevator Company of St. Louis.
In high school basketball, he was twice named to the all-conference first team and to the All-Southwest Iowa first team in 1955. In later years he became a jazz fan and was president of the St Louis Jazz Club, a music appreciation group, from 2003 to 2005.
Mr. Sprague was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Sprague; and special friend, Gerry Kaiser. He is survived by brother Gary Sprague of St. Joseph, Mo.; nieces Terri and Tracy; nephew Todd; Ms. Kaiser's daughter Lisa; and many friends.
