IDHS Reports More COVID-19 Cases At GRC

New numbers released Tuesday morning, Oct. 20, by the Iowa Department of Human Services confirmed 47 active cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus at the Glenwood Resource Center - 25 staff members and 22 residents.

The latest numbers reflect a decline in staff cases, but an increase in resident infections. On Friday, Oct. 16, the IDHS reported 32 confirmed cases of the virus involving staff and 21 residents. On Oct. 12, there were 26 staff and 15 residents infected with the virus.

There have been a total of 54 confirmed cases of the virus involving GRC staff, with 29 recovered; and 29 residents infected, with seven listed as recovered. Some of the cases have required hospitalization,  IDHS director Kelly Garcia stated last week.

The weekly COVID-19 report released Oct. 20 for Mills County confirmed 45 new cases of the virus over the past week, including seven that required hospitalization. Infections at the Glenwood Resource Center are included in the MCPH report.

Mills County has had 336 confirmed cases of the virus since the outbreak began last winter with 291 now classified as recovered.

Mills County’s 14-day positivity rate was at 9.8 percent in Tuesday’s report.
