Home For The Holidays
A variety of activities are on tap this weekend for the Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Home For The Holidays celebration.
The festivities begin with a tree-lighting ceremony and holiday sing-along at Glenwood Lake Park Thursday evening and concludes with the Glenwood Ministerial Associa-tion’s “Soup and Song” Sunday evening at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
The following activities are planned for the four-day celebration:
Thursday, Dec. 1
5:15 p.m. - Holiday tree lighting ceremony and sing-along at Glenwood Lake Park.
5 - 8 p.m. - Shopping boutique at Keg Creek Brewery.
6 - 8 p.m. - Soup supper at Senior Center (free-will donations accepted).
6 - 8 p.m. - Cookie decorating at Senior Center (sponsored by MOPS).
6 - 8 p.m. - Children’s book exchange at Glenwood Public Library.
6 - 8 p.m. - Christmas Trivia Scavenger Hunt with local merchants. Pick up hunt instructions at Senior Center.
5:30 - 8 p.m. - Hayrack rides around Town Square and Glenwood Lake Park provided by Garden Treasures.
8 p.m. - Prize announcement. Over $1,000 in Chamber Bucks will be awarded to scavenger hunt winners at Senior Center.
* Many Glenwood-area businesses will be open late Thursday for holiday shopping.
Friday, Dec. 2
7 - 10 p.m. - Ugly Sweater Contest at Vine Street Cellars winery.
Saturday, Dec. 3
8:30 - 10:30 a.m. - Breakfast With Santa at Mills County YMCA, co-hosted by Glenwood Community High School Reach/SADD program.
9 a.m. - 8 p.m. - Annual Festival of Trees celebration in Malvern Community Building. See Page 7A for more details about this event.
Sunday, Dec. 4
5 - 7 p.m. - Glenwood Ministerial Association’s Soup and Song at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, located at 24116 Marian Ave.
*The Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce will have “Secret Santas” out Dec. 1-4, looking for shoppers who are supporting local merchants. The Santas will be giving away Chamber Bucks, ranging in value from $10 - $100.
